Modernisation
Modernisation often represents a cost effective alternative to a new lift installation. By replacing obsolete and worn components it is possible to improve the reliability, performance and appearance of a lift. Using the existing hoist way offers the added advantage of avoiding costly and disruptive builder’s work.
In some cases modernisation is also necessary to comply with new legislation, for example to comply with The Disability Discrimination Act.
Our Company has considerable experience in the field of lift modernisation works. We also understand the technical issues associated with interfacing old and modern equipment.
For example, particular benefits can be achieved through the modernisation of the control system and door equipment. The arrival of microprocessor based control systems has rendered old technology obsolete and offers greatly improved reliability and performance. VVVF (variable voltage variable frequency) technology considerably reduces rapid acceleration and deceleration as well as lost time involved in re-leveling.
The aesthetic appearance of a lift car can be greatly enhanced by relining and refurbishment. We offer an extensive range of options and finishes for ceilings and lighting, side panels, flooring and trims. This will help improve the look and comfort of the lift car and landing entrances. Once a design has been chosen, we can provide a photograph or simulation to help you make a final decision.

LIFTS AND THE DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT
A new standard EN81-70 has been introduced and took effect from October 2004.
This standard applies to new lifts and acts as a guideline for existing lifts. It describes and defines the requirements for additional equipment and systems in order to make lifts user friendly to disabled or persons of limited mobility and forms part of wider legislation known as The Disability Discrimination Act .
The EN81-70 document is lengthy and not always clear in its intent or proposals to satisfy the requirements. We have endeavoured to interpret this document and show the requirements in terms of straightforward practical product solutions.
The products we are offering will satisfy the requirements and in many cases will also interface with existing microprocessor control systems and other equipment .
